Roll up guide
March 2025
Did you know you can have a quality sushi dinner party at home without weeks of shopping and preparation? Thank goodness for Goldbelly, the do-it-yourself meal delivery service from your favorite restaurants. This month we are learning to make different types of sushi with the iconic New York restaurant, Blue Ribbon Sushi! Don’t forget to add in an extra order with uni for an even more luxurious meal.
Dinner at home doesn’t mean you have to wear your “at-home clothes.” We’ve come up with six outfits that strike the perfect balance between “I’m already in my pajamas” and “So, where are we headed for a nightcap?” Each look is inspired by some of the delicious dishes that can be created with this all-inclusive meal kit.
We have The Salmon Roll for your classic New York corporate guy just getting home from work, The Ebi Shrimp Nigiri for the guy who carries his laptop around all day just in case he gets called into a meeting while he “works from home,” and The Hamachi Roll for someone who spent the whole day planning his summer trip instead of submitting his final project edits like he was supposed to. We can’t forget about The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice guy, who is the group’s foodie primarily because of his three-digit Beli following, or The Spicy Scallop Roll friend, who still secretly wishes they were working their high school summer blue-collar job but is alas stuck in Corporate America. Finally, we have The Uni Nigiri for the man who always looks like he’s ready to run really fast for some reason but also gives off a cool luxury aesthetic without even trying.
No matter what day job you’re coming from, we have the look that will definitely appear more effortless and put-together than any sushi roll construction attempted throughout the evening!
The Salmon Roll
If you work in banking or finance and find yourself biking to work, oh, do we have the perfect outfit for you. Obviously, working in an office usually requires adhering to a dress code, so we started the outfit with a traditional pairing of black slacks, a black crewneck sweater, and a white tee. This combination makes it look like you know what you're doing at work, even if you're chain-drinking office coffee all day just to keep yourself together. Add a belt with a more fashion-forward buckle to separate yourself from the copy-and-paste outfits your coworkers are wearing. Throw a baseball hat and sport-style sneakers into your work bag for an easy transition from the office chair to the city bike. This outfit will have your friends questioning what "banker boy style" even is anymore.

The ebi Shrimp nigiri
Working from home but can’t seem to stay in your tiny apartment all day? This outfit is for someone constantly on the move around the city, unable to sit at the same desk even if their life depended on it. It’s an opportunity to play with simple patterns and oversized silhouettes without looking like you’re waiting for one of those TikTok interviewers to ask you for an outfit rundown. Start with an oversized striped button-down shirt, perfect for hopping on one of those dreaded camera-on Zoom meetings. Then, add baggy green cargo pants for a pop of color and maximum mobility. Top it off with a lightweight hooded jacket to prepare for temperamental weather or an unexplainable wind tunnel. Accessorize with smiley socks for a touch of secret happiness, practical sneakers that won’t give you blisters after hitting your 10,000 steps for the day, and a backpack to carry all the essentials so you can go wherever the day takes you.

The Hamachi roll
Let us guess: you rent a very modest apartment so you can spend the majority of your paycheck on vacations and linen clothing? Nothing feels better than using paid work time to plan an entire trip—that is, until you remember you actually have to request that time off. To feel like you’re perpetually in a southern country without doing that weird thing where you wear shorts in 50-degree weather, try wearing an ivory work jacket with some beige pants. The lighter tones will give off a summery vibe without a blast of cold air sending you running into the nearest bodega cranking up the heat. Add a white T-shirt underneath and a gray beanie to keep in all the body heat you can. Finally, slip on some easy sneakers and accessorize with a watch ring for some much-needed practicality. This look has you dressing for the life you want rather than the job you want—because why aim for more work when you can manifest more long travel days?

The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice
You’re probably the friend who has been steadily working their way through the Michelin Guide of whichever city you currently live in. You’re also probably the friend who knows the perfect place for everything. Massage? Check out this hole-in-the-wall place (no happy endings, though). Drinks? This mezcal bar underneath a fried chicken restaurant is perfect. You always have a recommendation, and your outfit shows it. Start with an elevated gray crewneck sweatshirt over a long-sleeve white tee. Layer with a black leather jacket to prove you still appreciate the classics, paired with some wide-leg pinstripe trousers to simultaneously show you aren’t afraid to expand your palette. Complete the look with a simple silver chain bracelet that will feature nicely in any food photos you take and a dark-toned sneaker. You’ll look like you’ve been eating escargot and duck confit since your terrible twos in this outfit!

The spicy scallop ROLL
While scallops may be a little too much texture for some people, we know there are people out there ordering this roll against the group’s protests every time. When we think of texture in fashion, our first thought is denim. Much like a scallop roll, denim has a bit of a grainy feel but ultimately looks very clean and remains a staple. Denim on denim has been a recycled trend for decades, and it gives us a sense of nostalgia for high school odd jobs like mowing lawns, painting houses, or anything else that kept us outside rather than stuck indoors when the sun was shining. This look is all about the fit—we’re recommending an oversized short-sleeve denim collared shirt paired with matching wide-leg denim pants for a more modern feel. We’re adding a simple white tee to peek out around your collar and low-top black-and-white sneakers to keep the attention on the silhouette. Throw on an oversized waist bag to carry all your on-the-go essentials and a pair of sunglasses to help combat the sun you’re expecting to get in a shadow-prone city.

The uni nigiri
If you’re like us, you’d never heard of uni until one of your friends decided you needed to experience omakase. Now, we’re obsessed—uni is like the cool kid of the sea. If you don’t think you’re cool, this outfit is probably for you (because no one cool actually thinks they are). There’s something to be said for tech wear on a day-to-day basis. While you do run the risk of looking like you’re in a British rap group, tech wear is an easy and comfortable way to be fashionable while looking like it was the furthest thing from your mind when you got dressed this morning. This easy outfit combo starts with a cool, pocket-rich nylon jacket. Pair it with some cinchable black cargo pants and sport-style sneakers that say, “I could outrun a wild animal if that were a real threat.” Because we all know the jacket needs to stay on for aura purposes, layer a simple gray sweatshirt underneath. Add your favorite baseball or trucker hat for further mystique and a silver carabiner clip because, God forbid, you run out of pocket real estate.
