Here are all the pieces we’re currently obsessing over and coveting for summer 2023. Whether you are embracing feral girl summer, chill girl summer, or hot girl summer these items are sure to help you accomplish your warm weather dream looks that will push you to influencer level or have people looking over their shoulders on the Soho streets.
Oversized tote bag
Just keep telling yourself you are going to go to the park or a beach every weekend this summer and buy that big tote bag to fit all the things you will definitely need for all those sunny activities.
Racing Glasses
These sunglasses could be a hard sell if you were like us and had high school boyfriends who liked to fish and played baseball for your small-town team, but we swear they are cool now!
Crochet Hats
Dua Lipa wore a crochet hat one time and now it is all we can think about. Do they do anything to really protect you from the sun? No. But I will be wearing them all summer anyway.
Ties
Swap your winter scarves for a summer tie from your corporate job friends. Play dress-up as a banker or a ~woman in finance~ (but honestly if you are a woman in finance we are so impressed by you).
Trucker hats
Honestly, we expected to love this about as much as we expected to love driving a Ford F150 truck. Something about it just makes you feel like you are better than any man who has ever walked the earth.
Maxi Dresses
We really don’t understand why there was so much distaste for the maxi dress until this year. But now we are trying to figure out how to raise the poles in our closets so my 12 new lengthy additions don’t get their ends dusty or snag on the floor.
Oversized suit vests
Suit vests are in and the best part is they are free if your parents still have some of their three-piece suits lying around from the glory days.
Tube Tops
We really have nothing interesting to say about tube tops except they are easy and show off a nicely tanned shoulder. You need them and that is that.
Bra TOps
Again these tops are about as interesting as that finance boy you got stuck talking to so your friend can flirt with a man of actual substance. But they are a necessary evil.
Asymmetrical Swimsuits
Alright, we know these are not ideal for tanning but we are sure you own plenty of regular triangle bikinis for that. So suck it up and put on your sunscreen cause it’s time to switch it up a little bit.
Tanning Bikinis
Because we know everyone is going to ask anyway, here are our picks for the best tanning bikinis. We fall victim to the FOMS as well (fear of missing sun), so we will just do everyone a favor and leave these links right here.
Crochet Sweaters
The only way to get the FIT girl layering effect without the heat of wearing a thousand tops at once is by wearing a sweater made completely of holes. Now you can keep the TikTok GRWM’s going all summer long.
Button-Up Short Sleeve Collard Shirts
Feel like Adam Sandler in any movie he has ever done in this look. No, but really this is just a cool update on a Hawaiian shirt, and if you don’t take advantage of how easy this look is then shame on you.
Cargo Skirts
While cargo pants are also making a comeback - take it a step further by opting for a maxi skirt instead. Be the trendier, better version of everyone else.
Low Rise Mini Skirts
For my tall girls, these are going to be a bit of a challenge and we’re sorry. But if you were not blessed with long legs and model height then take this trend and run with it because it is finally something to wear better than your model friends.
Parachute Pants
A close sister to the cargo pant, we have the parachute pant. This is the lighter, airier option for the summertime. Get the cool baggy look without the sweat.
Overturned Waistbands
We want these pants in every color. You can be the coolest girl in the office or pair them with a corset and win the hearts of everyone at the East Village bar you decided to take over for the night.
Clogs
Honestly, they are so comfortable I couldn’t care less what anyone else has to say about them. Trust me just try them and you will see.
Slides
Okay everyone we need you to read this next sentence until it sticks. “Slides are good, flip-flops are bad.” We know there are going to be a lot of people out there who disagree with me but this is our guide and we don't care. We hate flip-flops and we don’t want to see them. What we will accept, because we are rational people, are slides.
Summer Boots
Yes, we know this isn’t exactly the newest trend, but many people forget about a good boot in the summertime. They are actually practical as hell and easily make an outfit interesting. Now you won’t see us prancing around in red cowboy boots all summer long but if that is your vibe then have at it y’all.
Platform Heels
These shoes are purely to shame short men. We do not care if you are 4 feet or 6 feet, this summer is about making all the boys stand up a little straighter and work a little harder now that we look down on them.
