Book  Club  Guide

February 2025

It’s time for another Manor Of Book Club! If you’re unfamiliar with this series of ours, check out our previous guide, Book Club January 2025, where we dive into some of our all-time favorites and the outfits we’re pairing with them. This time around, we’re spotlighting some of our current reading obsessions. First and foremost, we had to include the most anticipated book for any fantasy lover—Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. We all know and love the first two books in this epic fantasy series, and this third installment is absolutely living up to the hype. Next up is a novel we haven’t stopped raving about since it came out a few years ago—Verity by Colleen Hoover. Thank goodness this book is in the works to become a movie, giving us the perfect excuse to re-read it (as if we needed one) and finally see it come to life on the big screen. Finally, we’re bringing it back to Julia Fox’s memoir, Down the Drain. If you didn’t read this book when it was all TikTok could talk about, we highly recommend picking it up now—we promise you won’t regret it. Below, see all the looks we’re pairing with each of these books to help you bring the characters and their stories into your everyday life!

Onyx Storm

Rebecca Yarros / fiction, fantasy

Thank god Onyx Storm is finally here because, honestly, we’ve been stuck theorizing and debating dragon politics for the past 15 months, and it’s finally time to see who had the closest predictions. One of us—no names—went full Violet Sorrengail and dyed her hair lavender-grey, so saying we’re a bit obsessed is an understatement. For the perfect Basgiath War College-inspired outfit, we’re bringing fighting leathers into everyday dressing. Obviously, we started with an oversized leather jacket because we all wish for a boyfriend like Xaden with a closet worthy of stealing from. Then, keeping the rest of the outfit breathable and easy to move in, we opted for a fitted hooded black top for a little mystique and cargo pants with enough pockets to hold all our secrets. Accessorize with a silver braided shoulder bag (if you aren’t ready to take the hair dye leap like us) and a plush purple dragon bag charm so we can bring our own Andarna with us everywhere we go. If those pieces weren’t intimidating enough, finish off with some ass-kicking boots to pull the whole look together.

Verity

Colleen Hoover / psychological thriller novel

In case you haven’t heard, let us be the first to tell you the good news: they’re bringing Verity to the big screen! This book is the ultimate psychological thriller, perfect for fans of similar reads like The Housemaid series. It’ll have you thinking you know exactly where it’s going, but we promise by the end, you’ll be questioning everything—including your own sanity. Now, for the outfit: we’re channeling unassuming author who could actually dispose of a body if they had to. Start with a striped oversized button-down that screams, “I’m the coolest person in corporate America,” and layer it with a bright green collegiate-esque cardigan to show you’re knowledgeable and well-read. Add a leather moto-style jacket on top to prove you’ve got a bit of an edge. A frilly mini skirt is the perfect distraction from your crimes, and accessorize with a baseball cap to avoid the cameras and a comfy pair of sneakers for your inevitable getaway. The overall look will have your colleagues both impressed and a little scared of crossing you. So, whether you’re reading the book or waiting for the movie, this outfit is your go-to for looking like the main character in the middle of your own jaw-dropping plot twist!

Down The Drain

Julia Fox / memoir, autobiography

Down the Drain by Julia Fox left us shocked, speechless, and maybe even a little impressed. Fox has managed to stun us all with the story of her life before, during, and after finding fame, while also somehow creating moments that feel relatable for people in all stages of life. This book is definitely worth the read because Miss Julia—and her outlook on life and fashion—aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. And if you haven’t seen any of Julia Fox’s iconic pap-walk outfits in the last couple of years, you’re truly living under a rock. If this memoir had a uniform, it would be as chaotic as the streets of Saint Marks Place and as unapologetic as an influencer in Soho during Fashion Week. Our interpretation of a classic Fox look starts with a strapless buckle denim top and a pair of low-rise pinstripe jeans because, let’s be real, denim head-to-toe is so Julia. Continuing with some of her styling go-to pieces, we’re accessorizing with heeled suede boots and a denim shoulder bag. Throw on the blue faux fur coat for even more drama, and add some Diesel sunglasses because, honestly, where would that brand be without her these days? Finally, don’t forget a little messy eyeliner. Now go make Julia proud!
